PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which improves the display quality, and to provide a method of driving the same. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a timing controller 200 that receives, in sequence, a first original image signal to third original image signal inputs, and outputs, in sequence, a first correction image signal to a third correction image signal; and a liquid crystal panel that displays images upon receipt of the inputs of the first correction image signal to the third correction image signal. The timing controller generates a first translation image signal corresponding to a first gray-scale for reservation by using the first original image signal, while the second original image signal includes a second gray-scale. When the second gray-scale is found smaller than the first gray-scale, the timing controller generates a second translation image signal corresponding to a third gray-scale which is larger than the second gray-scale.
