PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared reflective composite black pigment containing cupric oxide, not containing any harmful element, and having excellent acid resistance and coating stability as well as excellent infrared reflectiveness. SOLUTION: The composite black pigment is obtained by coating, with a surface treating agent, a surface of a core particle of a mixture and/or a complex of cupric oxide and at least one pigment as a secondary component selected from an extender pigment, a white pigment, and iron oxide having a solar radiation reflectance of≥10%., wherein the molar ratio between the cupric oxide and the pigment as the secondary component is 0.1:0.9 to 0.95:0.05, the formed coating layer has acid resistance, the coating amount is 0.1-10 wt.% relative to the amount of the core particle, and the composite black pigment has excellent acid resistance and a solar radiation reflectance, measured according to JIS R3106, of≥20%.
