PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for reducing noise capable of appropriately executing a noise reduction process by targeting a plant of a distant view in an image including an object image of the plant of the distant view, and providing a feeling of resolution. SOLUTION: This device for reducing noise includes: an object image determination part 132 for determining whether an image comprising an attention pixel and pixels in the vicinity of the attention pixel is an object image of a plant of a distant view based on a pixel value of the attention pixel of image data and a pixel value of the pixels in the vicinity of the attention pixel; and a smoothing part 135 for smoothing the attention pixel in response to the determination results.
