The present invention relates an irradiation unit (110) for emitting a particle beam, - a gantry (109) comprising the irradiation unit (110), - a squirrel cage structure (202), located within and supported by said gantry (109) - a frame (201) arranged so as to be motionless, - a moving floor comprising a plurality of elongated members (501) forming a primary caterpillar (105), - two moving floor guide units (301,302) having a truncated circle shape, facing each other, attached to said squirrel cage structure (202) and the motionless frame (201) respectively, and each of the two moving floor guide units (301,302) comprising at least a first rail (104), - said primary caterpillar (105) being slidably arranged on said first rail (104), and wherein each moving floor guide unit further comprises at least a second rail having a truncated circle shape and the moving floor further comprises at least one secondary caterpillar (102) comprising elongated members (501) flexibly connected to each other by linking means (505), said secondary caterpillar being slidably arranged on said second rail and attached to the irradiation unit (110) so that it can rotate with the irradiation unit. |
