METHOD AND APPARATUS OF PRE-PROCESSING IMAGE FOR FACE RECOGNITION

PURPOSE: An image pre-processing apparatus for face recognition preventing the generation of distortion such as Halo is provided to simplify pre-processing for the illumination compensation about an input image through a detail improving filter and a bilateral filter in a facial recognition system. CONSTITUTION: A pre-processing apparatus comprises a bilateral filter(100) and a detail improving filter(102). The filter of a big size is employed in the bilateral filter. The bilateral filter performs lighting compensation about the input image. The filter of a small size is employed in the detail improving filter. The detail improving filter improves the detail about a lighting-compensated image. A photographed image reduces the generation of halo in case the photographed image is inputted in a side-illumination state.
