PURPOSE: A rubber composition for a tire tread is provided to secure the high modulus and hardness of the composition, to reduce the heat generation of rubber, and to maintain the abrasion resistance of the composition. CONSTITUTION: A rubber composition for a tire tread contains 100 parts of raw rubber by weight, 50~80 parts of carbon black by weight, and 3~20 parts of novolac phenol resin by weight. The carbon black includes the pH of 6~10, the adsorption of 115~135 mg/g, the tint strength of 130~140, and the toluene coloring permeability over 40%. The raw rubber contains 90~100wt% of diene-based natural rubber, and 0~20wt% of butadiene rubber including 97~98wt% of cis.
