The method involves integrating a metallic insert (4) into an injection molded part. Presence and/or position of the insert is detected by a sensor. The insert is detected in cavities (1) of an injection mold. The sensor is used as an optical sensor i.e. fiber optic sensor (5). The cavities are formed by a fixed die plate (2) and a movable die plate (3). The sensor is connected with an evaluation unit (6) to detect the presence and/or position of the insert before injection molded process.
