PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device capable of ensuring a space sufficient for installing a lock mechanism of a paper feeding tray. SOLUTION: This lock mechanism of the paper feeding tray 3 is constituted in such a way that a lock claw 10 is provided on a lower face of the paper feeding tray 3 to operate in linking with a handle 11 and be hooked in a recessed part 12a of a tray lower part stay 12 arranged for positioning on a lower face side of the paper feeding tray 3. The lock claw 10 and the handle 11 are mutually linked through a link part 13. When a user operates the handle 11 and the lock claw 10 is disengaged from the recessed part 12a of a positioning member 12, the force for keeping the paper feeding tray 3 stopped at a storage position does not act any more, so that the paper feeding tray 3 is pushed out and is energized by a pushing-out spring 9 and moves toward the front of the user. Since the paper feeding tray 3 has a shape being horizontally long when viewed from the front usually, a link mechanism can be simplified and the number of part items and cost can be reduced by positioning the lock mechanism on the lower face side.
