<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide marker attachment technologies to attach positioning markers to an image to detect specified areas in the image, which allow users to attach positioning markers to small areas for images printed on analog media, such as paper. <P>SOLUTION: An area size detector 102-1 detects the size of an area that is attached with positioning markers, and a marker adjustment part 102-2 adjusts positioning markers corresponding to the detected area size. If the size of a specified area is big, positioning markers are attached to specified positions in an image in a normal method, but on the other hand if the size of the specified area is small, markers which have a size, a direction and a pattern corresponding to the area size are attached. A marker attachment part 102-3 attaches the adjusted positioning markers to an input image 103, and then outputs a marker attached image 104.
