<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an image forming apparatus capable of preventing its cost from rising and also more efficiently performing processing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Memory is controlled based on a memory division basic pattern that divides the storing region of the memory into a first storage region used for carrying out a reading process and a second storing region used for carrying out a printing process when both processes of the reading process and the printing process are requested (S5). Then, the memory is controlled based on a reading priority type memory division pattern which has the size of the first storing region made greater than the first storing region in the memory division basic pattern when only the reading process is requested (S6). In addition, the memory is controlled based on a printing priority type memory division pattern which has the size of the second storing region made greater than the second storing region in the memory division basic pattern when only the printing process is requested (S4).
