PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for protecting pedestrians from a vehicle are provided to change or drive operation direction by recognizing moving direction and distance of a subject. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for protecting pedestrians for a vehicle comprises: a three-dimensional sensing device which is mounted at front side of the vehicle and both sides of the front and back portions and senses a moving material; and an avoidance control device which is able to determine changing or stopping driving direction and control.
