PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor, in which its performance and reliability are improved, and a refrigerant compressor, on which it is mounted. SOLUTION: In the motor, a bridge 46 with a specified thickness is formed between the end, on the rotor core 41 side, of an air gap 45, and the peripheral face of the rotor core 41, and a plurality of recesses 47 are created at the peripheral face opposed to, at least, the bridge 46 of the rotor 40 by creating the air gap 45, which extends to the vicinity of the peripheral face of the rotor core 41 and pierces it axially, at each end of a magnet insertion hole 42.
