PURPOSE: A semiconductor memory device and a memory control method are provided to writing data without removal operation by selecting block of the maximum data writing amount in a writing/reading instruction unit. CONSTITUTION: A first memory unit(9) comprises a plurality of first blocks. A writing/reading instruction unit(13) issues the writing command for data writing about the first block. An address conversion unit(14) converts the external address of input data with reference to the translation table into the storage area of the first block. If data valid is not remembered in the first blocks, the instruction unit issues the writing command for data write about the first block in which data valid is not remembered.
