<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system composed of a post-processing device for binding a bundle of papers in a plurality of sections by moving one stapler and an image forming device and capable of preventing reduction of its rate of operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This post-processing device provided with a binding part for forming a bundle of papers by stacking the papers fed from the image forming device and driving a binding needle into a plurality of sections of the bundle of papers by the movable stapler has a binding position detecting means for detecting whether the stapler is at the binding position being the position for driving the binding needle and set in advance or not and a control part for controlling the binding part in such a way that it determines whether the first binding position after the first binding handling is the binding position set in advance or not based on the detection signals fed from the binding position detecting means and, after obtaining the result of determination indicating that the first binding position is not the binding position set in advance, binding handling is not carried out and the bundle of papers is fed onto the downstream side of the binding part.
