A method of application of a coating on the surface of axles of railcar wheel pairs by plasma-arc spraying with feed into the spraying area of a solid or powder filler wire. The plasma arc is compressed by cooling air flow. Cooling air flow is fed under pressure. A distance is set between the end of filler wire and surface subject to spraying.
