Arrangement for cooling of an electrical machine (1) is disclosed. The electrical machine (1) comprises an outer rotor (2) and an inner stator (3) with an air-gap (8) between the rotor (2) and the stator (3). The stator (3) is constructed from a number of stacked laminate plates (9), the plates (9) having a number of slots (10) to carry metal windings of a stator coil, the slots (10) facing the air gap (8). The laminate-plates (9) are positioned and fixed by a means of structural support and by end-plates (12, 13) in relation to a central-part (14) of the stator (3) to achieve the air-gap (8). A cavity is formed by the end-plates (12, 13), the central-part of the stator (14) and an internal surface (16) of the laminate-plates (9). Within the cavity a fan (18) circulates a gaseous medium within the cavity through openings (19, 20) of the end plates (12, 13) to the air-gap (8), passing the winding heads (11) of the stator coil, and to circulate the gaseous medium from the air-gap (8) through openings in the stacked laminate-plates (9)back into the cavity. The cavity also contains a heat-exchanger (21), which is used to cool down the circulated gaseous medium by exchanging heat with cooler air outside the machine.
