摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitor with electrochemical cells containing ruthenium-oxide electrodes and an aqueous electrolyte comprising a polybasic acid such as sulfuric acid. <P>SOLUTION: The electrodes contain substrates coated with metallic-oxide films formed by combining ruthenium oxide and inorganic oxide particles such as (alumina, silica or the like) more specifically respectively. It is considered that the inorganic oxide particles promote a proton shift (such as a proton generation) in the aqueous electrolyte, and can form a hydrate inorganic-oxide complex (such as the formation of [Al<SB>2</SB>(H<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>8</SB>(OH<SB>2</SB>)]<SP>4+</SP>from [Al(H<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>6</SB><SP>3+</SP>]) though no theoretical limitation is intended. Accordingly, an inorganic oxide absorbs water while serving as a catalyst for reversible cleavage to protons and molecular-bonded hydroxyl group crosslinking. Anions (such as sulfate ions, hydrogensulfate ions or the like) in the electrolyte are not restrained in the coordination circle of generated aqueous complexes, so that these anions do not disturb the condensation of these complexes required for obtaining an additional capacitance extensively over a potential range. Consequently, ionic charges keep a separated state, and a pseudo capacity can be generated by the chemical process.
