PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal-aligning agent giving a liquid crystal alignment layer in which a pretilt angle can be imparted by a photo-alignment method and the imparted pretilt angle is excellent in stability with lapse of time. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal-aligning agent contains a radiation-sensitive polyorganosiloxane obtained by making a specified polyorganosiloxane having an epoxy group react with (A) a cinnamic acid derivative and (B) a specified compound having a photosensitizing structure preferably selected from an acetophenone structure, benzophenone structure, anthraquinone structure, biphenyl structure, carbazole structure, nitroaryl structure, fluorene structure, naphthalene structure, anthracene structure, acridine structure and indole structure.
