<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveyor belt rip detection system including a belt having a rip detection insert easy to be incorporated into a conveyor belt. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the conveyor belt including (1) an elastic body having a load support surface and a pulley engaging surface parallel to its surface, (2) a reinforcing ply arranged in the elastic body, and (3) a plurality of rip detection inserts, the rip detection inserts are arranged at an interval along the longitudinal length of the conveyor belt, and the rip detection inserts include a large number of rip detection wires composed of a magnetically permeable material, and the rip detection wires are aligned at a bias angle of 15°-75° from the vertical direction to the longitudinal direction of the belt in the rip detection inserts, and the rip detection wires are arranged at an interval of gradually enlarging, crossing a width of the belt.
