<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform data erasure and physical breakage of a magnetic recording medium in a short time, while reducing influence of a magnet for data erasure upon the configuration of other devices. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A magnetic recording disposal device 10 includes a rotation retention mechanism 109, a magnet unit 111 and a destruction device. The rotation retention mechanism 109 retains a magnetic recording medium 121 in a rotatable manner. From the edge portion of the magnetic recording medium 121 retained by the rotation retention mechanism 109, the magnet unit 111 extends toward the center of rotation of the magnetic recording medium 121, and erases the data in the magnetic recording medium 121.
