PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for electrophotography, containing a crystalline polyester, and having excellent durability without damaging low-temperature fixity, to provide a method for producing the toner, to provide the crystalline polyester usable for the toner and having excellent crushability and hardness, and to provide a binder resin. SOLUTION: The crystalline polyester obtained by polycondensing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component containing≥20 mol% of an unsaturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid compound, and≤5 mol% of a polycarboxylic acid compound of at least tricarboxylic acid comprises a chloroform-dissolvable component having a molecular weight peak top at 1,000-20,000 in a gel permeation chromatography, and a chloroform-insoluble component in a content of 1-30 wt.%. The method for producing the polyester is also provided. The binder resin for the toner contains the crystalline polyester and an amorphous polyester.
