<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure diagnostic device for intake air temperature sensor, accurately determining, in the event of failure of an intake air temperature sensor disposed in the vicinity or downstream of an exhaust gas recirculating position. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In failure diagnosis of an intake manifold intake air temperature sensor 49 provided on an intake manifold 63, EGR amount is increased, the amount of change in intake air temperature detection value of the sensor 49 according to the increase is compared with a preset determination threshold, and when the amount of change is below the determination threshold, sensor failure is determined. The determination threshold is set by use of the outside air temperature, the intake air volume and the intake supercharging pressure as correction parameters to be smaller as the outside air temperature is higher, the intake air volume is smaller, and the intake supercharging pressure is higher.
