PURPOSE: A bicycle rental apparatus and a system thereof are provided to perform automatically user authentication and de-locking with a user card, thereby making a rental service of the bicycle conveniently. CONSTITUTION: A local communications unit(135) wirelessly transmits and receives data to and from a gateway device. A locking unit(115) is coupled to a bicycle retractor. An RFID(Radio Frequency ID) reader(120) recognizes a bicycle rack tag and a user card. If the RFID reader recognizes user information of the user card, a controller transmits the user information to the gateway device. If a rent permission message is received from the gateway device, the controller lifts the bond of the bicycle retractor and locking part.
