<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metallic glass compact which constitutes a powder magnetic core and can enhance the strength. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the metallic glass compact includes the steps of: heating the substrate particles each containing metallic glass as a main constituent while pressurizing them, and sintering a particulates body of the substrate particles. The sintering step can be divided into two stages. The first stage includes pressurizing the substrate particles so that the density of the particulates body becomes less than 90% of true density while reducing a ratio of voids among the substrate particles which constitute the particulates body, when heating the substrate particles to a temperature lower than the glass transition temperature of the metallic glass. Thereby, the density of the particulates body is enhanced. The subsequent second stage includes pressurizing the substrate particles under the condition that a distortion-varying rate (%/°C) of the particulates body with respect to the unit temperature is larger than that in the first stage, while further heating the particulates body in a range of the Tg or higher but lower than the Tx of the metallic glass. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
