<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphine compound comprising a sulfur-containing functional group. Ž<P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method of producing a diarylpyridylphosphine compound including the following processes. (A) a process of causing a halopyridine compound to react with a metal reagent in a non-protonic organic solvent to obtain an organometal compound, (B) a process of causing the reaction mixture produced in the process (A) to react with a halogenated diarylphosphine to obtain a reaction mixture comprising a diarylpyridylphosphine compound, (C) a process of subjecting the reaction mixture produced in the process (B) to a separation process to separate and recover the crude diarylpyridylphosphine compound and the aprotic organic solvent, (D) a process of subjecting the crude diarylpyridylphosphine compound obtained in the process (C) to a purification process to obtain the diarylpyridylphosphine compound, (E) a process of recovering the halogenated diarylphosphine from the process (D), and (F) a process of recycling the aprotic organic solvent recovered in the process (C) and/or the halogenated diarylphosphine recovered in the process (E) to the process (A) or to the process (B).
