A steering control apparatus is provided with first and a second steering mechanisms serving to assist a steering force exerted by a driver via a steering wheel (1). The first steering mechanism (8) employs a first electric motor (16) to apply a rotational torque to a pinion shaft (6), and the second steering mechanism (10) uses a hydraulic oil pressure to apply a thrusting force to a rack bar (5).
