The cylinder lubricating device (1) comprises a discharge opening (9) in an area between the scavenge ports (7) and the upper dead center in the cylinder wall (3) so that lubricating oil (10) is discharged from the cylinder (4). The scavenge ports are provided in an inlet area (6) of the cylinder. A recirculating unit (11) is provided for recirculating the lubricating oil in a sub-system (12) of the cylinder lubricating device.
