The structural element has two layers made of a casting material (2) i.e. concrete, and optical fibers (4) embedded in an outer side of an upper surface of one of the layers. The optical fibers pass through an insulating layer (3) and extend upto an upper surface of the other layer. The upper surface of the latter layer is turned away from the insulating layer. The structural element has thermal resistance in the range of 0.18 to 0.31 watt per square meter Kelvin. The insulating layer comprises hard plastic foam, foam glass or cork. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a transparent insulating structural element. |
