The method involves receiving acoustic mixed signals from signal sources (S1, S2), and converting the signals into electrical mixed signals (E1-En). One of the electrical signals is processed based on a parameter-setting, and an electrical output signal is generated and is converted into an output signal that is perceived by a user as an acoustic output signal. Source-specific reception signals (Q1-Qm) are generated from the electrical mixed signals, are analyzed and are characterized as interference- or useful signals. The parameter-setting is determined based on a result of the analysis. An independent claim is also included for a hearing aid system comprising a hearing aid.
