High impact strength graft polymers are made by polymerizing styrene or a ring-substituted derivative thereof in the presence of a linear high molecular weight 1, 2- or 3, 4- enchained polymer of a diolefin having the formula <FORM:0880928/IV (a)/1> in which R is a hydrogen atom or lower alkyl group, and a radical initiator, e.g. benzoyl or p-chlorobenzoyl peroxide. The linear polydiolefines, e.g. polybutadiene and polyisoprene, may be made by the methods described in Specifications 835,752 and 854,615. |
