PURPOSE: An external use skin composition containing cyperus papyrus extract is provided to suppress melanogenesis and tyrosinase activation and to ensure skin whitening, moisturization, and elasticity. CONSTITUTION: An external use skin composition contains 0.001-30.0 weight% of cyperus papyrus extract. The cyperus papyrus extract is obtained from flower, leaf, seed, root, or stem. The cyperus papyrus extract is obtained by filtering cyperus papyrus extract with a filter membrane having a pore size of 0.05-0.2 um and mixing with minimum 7% of anhydrous ethanol. The composition is a cosmetic composition or pharmaceutical composition.
