PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of detecting the generation of a ghost image caused by an additive of a ghost that is the ghost not resulting from a latent image potential of an image carrier. SOLUTION: A developer image indicating a test image by an exposure means is developed in the same portion on the image carrier over a plurality of times, the first control means is controlled to conduct transfer onto a transfer body, the developer image developed on the image carrier is controlled thereafter to be transferred by a transfer means, by applying a bias voltage for depositing a developer on the image carrier including the same portion on the image carrier, without being exposed, and the presence of the ghost image caused by the additive is detected thereafter, by comparing densities detected from respective portions of a position in the transfer body corresponding to the same portion on the image carrier, and a position in the transfer body corresponding to a portion different from the same portion on the image carrier.
