PURPOSE: A pigment for a paint composition and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to express beautiful colors using the reflection of the composition, and to apply the composition of a forgery protection security layer. CONSTITUTION: A pigment for a paint composition is formed with spherical photonic crystals dispersed with colloid particles on a polymer material. The size of the spherical photonic crystals is 5 micron~1millimeters. The polymer material includes an acrylate group. A manufacturing method of the pigment comprises the following steps: forming droplets by dispersing a photo-curable colloid dispersion including colloid particles dispersed to a photo-curable first dispersing medium, to a second disperse medium; and irradiating ultraviolet rays to the droplets for producing the spherical photonic crystals.
