摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the yield of a self-servo write process and the yield of a product test process during manufacturing of a magnetic recording apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A self-servo write apparatus 100 includes an external interface 105 for connection with a database, an MPU 106 for controlling the whole system, a memory 107 for temporarily retaining data, a read/write channel 108 for transmitting/receiving a read signal and a write signal, and a motor driver control unit 109 for controlling a spindle motor 211 and a VCM (voice coil motor) 204. A servo write system includes a yield database 101 and a serial number reader 104. By using the self-servo write apparatus 100 and the servo write system, a yield is predicted for each magnetic recording apparatus when each incorporated magnetic head is set as a position control head, and a position is controlled by a magnetic head having a highest predicted yield to execute self-servo writing.
