The method involves detecting an actual size that stands in relationship with a laser power, and controlling a controlling element (15) in dependence of the detected actual size for regulation of a given desired size. The controlling element is attached to a power supply unit (13). Another controlling element (20) is controlled for a boost operation. The latter controlling element is attached to another power supply unit (21). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a controlling arrangement for controlling a laser component, particularly for the execution of a controlling method; and (2) a switch, which has multiple controlling arrangements.
