<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make index characters look better by enabling an index character image corresponding to each segment to be printed within a page range for each segment by the same character size. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus which prints to a plurality of sheets of paper so that the index characters appear on an overlap part of paper ends of the fore edge side of a booklet when the booklet formed by binding the plurality of sheets of paper is curved along a leafing direction, a plurality of index character images are generated by rasterizing a plurality of index character data corresponding to respective chapters by the same character size, the generated plurality of index character images are sliced one by one by a printing width conformed with printing width data in a preliminarily set direction, each of the sliced index character images corresponding to the chapter is combined at the end of the fore edge side of the booklet of each body image which belongs to the page range of the chapter for every plurality of chapters on the basis of page range data of each chapter, and the combined images are printed to the plurality of sheets of papers by controlling a printing part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
