PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which reduce the influence of noise generated from a device with respect to speech recognition, improves a recognition rate, and accurately performs operation based on speech recognition. SOLUTION: A digital copy machine includes: a microphone 232 that collects a sound around the digital copy machine; a speech recognizing board 238 that recognizes the speech, uttered by a user, on operation, from the collected speech; and a machine control board 231 that changes, when the uttered speech is recognized, an operation state of the digital copy machine.
