<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light resistance in a liquid crystal material used for a projection type device such as a projector. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal material includes an aromatic ring and the aromatic ring has a carbon constituting an adamantyl group at least one benzyl position. Thereby, occurrence of radical reaction at the benzyl position of the liquid crystal material can be effectively suppressed.
