PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a fluid dynamic pressure bearing capable of coping with various dimensional requirements. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the fluid dynamic pressure bearing includes: a linear groove-forming process that forms linear grooves 40 having a length equivalent to the width of dynamic pressure grooves 38 in the circumferential direction formed in an internal peripheral surface of a shaft-housing hole portion 44 along the circumferential direction of a surface perpendicular to a first machining direction by using a finely and alternately driven turning tool in the second direction perpendicular to the first machining direction that extends toward the center axis of a workpiece 16; and an extension process that displaces the relative position of a workpiece 16 and the turning tool to the first machining direction, and continuously form the linear grooves 40 in the first machining direction so that the dynamic pressure grooves 38 are extended to the first machining direction.
