<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit of an electric power steering apparatus that makes it possible to continue conducting steering assist by using a torque sensor even when one sensor element in the torque sensor having a pair of sensor elements has failed. <P>SOLUTION: The electric power steering apparatus is provided with the torque sensor that includes the pair of sensor elements respectively indicating two output characteristics with a predetermined correlation according to a change in steering torque, and the control unit that sets weighting and output limitation by performing mode determination relative to the respective outputs based on the outputs of the pair of sensor elements, calculates the steering torque based on the set weighting, and moreover, limits the output for the steering assist based on the set output limitation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
