<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid injection device capable of removing a bubble mixed into a liquid, to deliver stably the liquid from a nozzle, and a method of controlling the liquid injection device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A maintenance drive pulse group FL includes a plurality of drive pulses DP1, DP2 including the first pulse elements P11, P21, the second pulse elements P12, P22, and the third pulse elements P13, P23. The first time width Pdis1 is set between a terminal end of the third pulse element and a leading end of the first pulse element in the next drive pulse. A voltage value of each drive pulse is set to 30 V or more. The first time width is set to a time within a range of 0.55 to 0.75 Tc, where Tc represents a Helmholtz resonance period of ink filled in a pressure generation chamber. The second time width Pdis2 is set between the one maintenance drive pulse group FL1 and other maintenance drive pulse group FL2 followed thereto, and the second time width is set to a time of 20 times or more of the first time width.
