PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly inspect an ink ejection state in a short time. SOLUTION: The inkjet printer 1 includes a plurality of recording heads 31, a carriage 3, an ink ejection inspecting part 44 which inspects the ink ejection state of the recording heads 31 by the change of an amount of received light by making a detection light 49 emitted from a light emitting element 45a to a flight path of ink droplets and receiving the light at a light receiving element 45b, and a control part 9. The control part 9 detects a carriage's inspection position by ejecting the ink while moving the carriage 3 in the vicinity of the ink ejection inspecting part 44 for the recording heads 31 of a first group, calculates a carriage's inspection position on the basis of both the carriage's inspection position detected for the recording heads 31 of the first group and design position data of each recording head 31 on the carriage 3 for the recording heads 31 of a second group, and inspects the ink ejection state by moving the carriage 3 to the carriage's inspection position of each recording head 31.
