<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device that has better operability particularly for selecting items stored in a lower hierarchy than before. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit stores each piece of information in a hierarchical structure. At the control unit, databases (lower database as seen from hierarchy 1) which are displayed as sub menu screens stored in a hierarchy 2 lower than a main menu screen (hierarchy 1) and which used to be independent of one another, and databases (lower database as seen from hierarchy 2) which are displayed as command menu screens stored in a hierarchy 3 and which used to be independent of one another are controlled in such a way as to be capable of being scrolled as a sequence when displayed (steps S7 and S8).
