SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the RE123 superconductive thin film wire rod has a precursor formation process of forming a precursor wire rod by applying a raw material to a base material, and a thin film formation process of applying heat treatment on the precursor wire rod and forming an RE123 superconductive thin film. An amount of steam included in an atmosphere upon the application is 13.6 g/m3or less (a dew point of 16°C or below) in the precursor formation process. Ž
