PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that prevents developer from leaking out. SOLUTION: The developing device includes: a developing container 40 disposed oppositely to an image carrier and having an opening; a developer carrier 41 disposed in the opening so as to be rotated; abutting members 45 and 46 which abut on the rotating surface of the developer carrier 41 in the width direction; and an end seal 47 disposed in firm contact with the rotating surface of the developer carrier 41 and the surfaces of the abutting members 45 and 46 and used to prevent developer from leaking out of the developer container 40 from the end of the developer carrier 41 in the width direction. A cut 50 is formed in the pressure-contact face of an end seal 47 formed in pressure-contact with the rotating surface of the developer carrier 41 and the surfaces of the abutting members 45 and 46 so as to intersect the end edges 45a and 46a of the abutting members 45 and 46 disposed on the rotating surface in the width direction.
