摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device and a method of calculating a transfer amount of a lubricant, by which transfer of the lubricant to a head slider can be suppressed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Numerous air molecules 53 are present on a medium facing surface 34 and the surface of a storage medium 14. Lubricant molecules 52 collide with air molecules 53 due to the evaporation of the lubricant, and the lubricant molecules 52 are flicked. The air molecules 53 act to prevent the lubricant molecules 52 from being transferred to the medium facing surface 34. As the air pressure p between the medium facing surface 34 and the surface of the storage medium 14 increases, the number of the air molecules 53 increases. Further, as a floating amount h increases, the number of the air molecules 53 increases. Since the product ph of air pressure p and the floating amount h is set to a prescribed value or more, the transfer amount of the lubricant is suppressed. As a result, a head slider 22 can be floated stably over a long period. Further, the presence of the air molecules 53 is considered in calculating the transfer amount of lubricant, and thereby the transfer amount of the lubricant molecules 52 is calculated with higher accuracy.
