<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound to activate PPARs and a compound useful for ameliorating lifestyle-related diseases through the activation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An activator for peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors whose effective ingredient is a ceramide compound having a phytosphingosine skeleton and a drug for ameliorating lifestyle-related diseases including the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors are provided. The ceramide compound having a phytosphingosine skeleton has a higher PPARs activation effect than the known PPARs agonists, and is used for preventing, ameliorating and treating lifestyle-related diseases such as obesity and diabetes.
