<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin for electrophotographic toner and an electrophotographic toner having good pulverizing property and fixing property even when a biodegradable resin is used as a binder resin. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The resin for electrophotographic toner is obtained by hydrolyzing a biodegradable resin with warm water to reduce the molecular weight to 5,000 to 50,000. The electrophotographic toner contains the above resin for an electrophotographic toner, and a colorant. Preferably, a polylactic acid-based resin is used as the biodegradable resin.
