PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization element capable of converting a circular polarized beam to a radial polarized beam having a circular cross section, and to provide a laser unit using the polarization element. SOLUTION: Regarding the polarization element for converting the circular polarized beam that is obtained by converting a linear polarized beam oscillated from a laser oscillator by aλ/4 wavelength plate, to the radial polarized beam, the polarization element is formed by depositing a dielectric film on the conical surface of an axicon lens.
