PURPOSE: A method and a system for providing the status information and location information using an instant messenger server are provided to supply the status information and location information through an address book of a second mobile communication terminal at an instant messenger log-on timing of a first mobile communication terminal. CONSTITUTION: When an instant messenger is logged on, a first mobile communication terminal(102) transmits the status information and location information to an instant messenger server(104). According to the status information and location information, the instant messenger server updates the corresponding status information and location information. The instant messenger server transmits the received status information and location information to a second mobile communication terminal(108). The location information is the current location information of the first mobile communication terminal collected using a GPS(Global Positioning System).
